Here are some low calorie snacks that will fill you up and not out!

Low Calorie Snacks and Desserts

Here are some food items that are tasty and at the same time not a threat to your diet.
  • Fruit and yogurt make a great healthy snack. You can combine berries with yogurt to get plenty of vitamins and calcium. Alternately, you can have a mixture of sliced fruit topped with low fat whipped topping. We suggest combining half a cup of fresh strawberries and blueberries, topped with four tablespoons of the light whipped topping. Your grand total will only be about 90 calories.
  • Slice an English muffin in half and have the top half, toasted or plain, along with a teaspoon of peanut butter. This tasty treat which will be made better if you make the muffin a whole grain muffin, should take up only 95 calories of your daily quota.
  • Don't we all love freshly made popcorn? Well, popcorn is one of the best low calorie foods that make you feel full. You can have up to three cups of this light snack, which will not only total to about 93 calories and it will also provide about 15 percent of your daily fiber needs.
  • Another favorite on the low calorie snacks list is cheese. While most people think that cheese is fattening, as long as you pick a low calorie version, you don't need to deprive yourself. One option is two sticks of light string cheese snacks, which is great if you are craving a salty food, and will total only about 100 calories.
  • You either have this as a snack or a dessert. Jell-O Fat-Free Pudding Snacks are a favorite among weight watchers, and you can indulge yourself with the wide variety of flavors such as tapioca, chocolate, devil's food, and chocolate/vanilla swirl. These tasty treats clock in at 100 calories.
  • This is one of my favorites and will truly help you forget that you're on a diet. Use a container held over boiling water to melt 1 ounce of dark chocolate rich in antioxidants, dip in fresh strawberries and revel in the luxurious flavors. This treat will only set you back by 150 calories.
While you now have plenty of low calorie snack ideas up your sleeve, you still need some options for low calorie meals. Sandwiches and soup is always a great option while counting the calories. You could combine a healthy soup, such as minestrone, with whole grain corn bread. There are many low calorie recipes for one person, if you stay alone. If you feel like treating yourself to more than lean cold cuts in bread, you could try a tuna sandwich. Alternately, you could make a crunchy fillet by coating fish in a mixture of whipped egg whites, flour, and cornflakes, and then baking it. Put it between whole wheat hamburger buns along with lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles. You could have this along with baked sweet potato fries and a lovely fresh summer salad drenched in lime. The key to prepare low calorie snacks and meals is to ensure that you use healthy options. For example, it is possible to make healthy pizza by using homemade pizza sauce, a topping of grilled chicken shreds/lean ham, mushrooms, and low fat cheese.
